A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Golden Slumbers - A Father's Love will benefit the Golden Dad's project and the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI).

The National Fatherhood Initiative
The NFI’s mission is to improve the well being of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up with involved, responsible, and committed fathers.

Each year in April the NFI holds it annual Fatherhood Awards Gala in Washington DC. This years event will take place at the Willard InterContinental Hotel Washington on April 19th. The event recognizes not only the achievements of the NFI, but hands out Fatherhood Awards to individuals who exemplify the ideals of involved, responsible, and committed fatherhood. The recipients of the 2004 fatherhood awards were Richard Marx, Carlos Ponce, Bebe Winans, Chris Carter, Jim Abrahams, and S. Truett Cathy.

Golden Dads 2005 - WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

It was a golden weekend for catching Golden Dads this Father's Day Weekend, June 18 and 19, as the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) caught 10,000 fathers in twenty locations across the country.

In zoos, parks, malls and ESPN Zones across America, dads seen interacting positively with their children were awarded with a Golden Dads Rewards Kit.

2005 Golden Dads received the Golden Slumbers - A Father's Love CD, an official "Golden Dads" button, a copy of NFI's Directions for Dads™ CD-ROM, NFI's new "No Ifs" awareness bracelet, as well as sponsor-provided goodies, including Herr's potato chips and ESPN Zone coupons.

All weekend dads were caught giving hugs, pushing strollers, and playing with their children. Where there were Golden Dads, there were NFI staffers and volunteers waiting to catch and award these fathers for their involvement and devotion.


From Boston to Chicago to Honolulu, fathers were thrilled to be recognized as golden and their children and families shared in the excitement. Father's Day 2005 was truly a special day as NFI recognized Golden Dads for their dedication and hard work.
